Are there any social stories for a 3 yr old neurotypical child who is acting out because she is angry at the attention and the double standard she lives with because her 4 yr old brother has aspergers ??
Hey Brenda..sorry to hear you are having problems..It is hard for us as adults to sometimes accept that we have a child on the spectrum, but when you are a child you see thing in a completly different light..sounds like your daughter is a normal 3 year old wanting mommy all to herself and does not like to share..I know also it is very hard to divide your time when you have a child on the spec too....Do you have the chance to spend quality time just with her?..If so you could continue to reinterate that she can "help" you with her brother instead of feeling like she is in competition with him...I remember when Michael was very young..his older brother and sister would sometimes really stress me out until I gave them the responsibility of helping me ....... we still had our moments but in the long run it actually helped..I guess it gave them a sense of accom;lishment too.....my oldest kids were older than your daughter but if she thinks she is "helping" you she may actually start thinking (as young as she is)...that it is ok and not vie for your attention all the time and act out when she dosn't get it..just a thought....We are here for you.................(((MANY HUGS)))))))))))
