Where Do You Live
Portland, Oregon (aka : Rose City) Just another tree hugger!
Oregonians do things a bit different here:
We don't pump our own gas, we don't have sales tax, 95% of our beaches have PUBLIC ACCESS, and we VOTE by mail!
How Did You Hear About This Site?
A great friend on MySpace (John)
***Thank you Papa John!***

AND a BIG THANK YOU to Diana Terry for creating this outstanding web site!

About Me:
Born and raised in Oregon where our motto is "Oregonians don't tan, but rust instead!" . I am an American Mutt (ie: part Norwegion, British, Cherokee Indian, and German) I have a daughter named after my Norwegion grandfather's mother's name of Nelja (like a clone of me! lol) from my previous marriage. I was a full time working single mom while raising her. Not easy but we managed!

I finally remarried years later to a wonderful man from the UK and now have twin boys (*not identical) * Boy/Girl twins run in every generation of my family on my mother's side but I ended up having Boy/Boy twins 4 weeks early born on July 31, 2003.
Hubby named our twin boys: Andrew Robert & Cameron James
About Your Autistic Family Member:
On August 13 2007, our pediatrician diagnosed Cameron with ASD shortly after the twins turned 4 years old. Our world began to spiral into the unknown...

View a music video I created on how WE learned about Autism:
Video called: You're Not Alone
Music: "Don't Give Up On Me" by RICH OWEN
(click on FULL SCREEN button if you are unable to read the text)

Every time the above video is viewed, it automatically generates a donation towards Autism Speaks Charity

See the long version of the music video with Andrew & Cameron - Note: at the end of this video, you see Cameron singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" while trying to balance on his tippy toes :

I caught this (video below) on my twins favorite show called "Jacks Big Music Show"
This music video REALLY CHEERED ME UP shortly after hearing from our Pediatrician that one of our 4 yr old twin boys, (Cameron) has "characteristics of Autism but NOT full blown Autism." (as if that was supposed to comfort us...)

Cameron is a happy, loving, child that can communicate "OK" (on good days) - tells me he loves me (after I say it to him), gives me kisses (when I ask for one), allows us to hug, cuddle, and hold him. So maybe Cameron is not so bad off after all. But it all still worries me: his health, his future, and his happiness.

No matter how things turn out I will always love Cameron. I am blessed and love all three of my children very dearly!
"One Egg Different From the Rest"
(Song: Duck 4 ~ by Lean Thomas III)

More about our family & Autism found here on my little family website

Favorite Thing To Do With Your Autistic Family Member:
Coloring and Painting are Cameron's favorite thing to do. His favorite color is RED and you can certainly tell! LOL. Taking him to feed the ducks, sing along with his favorite songs and bath time are so fun - these things make him happiest and that in turn makes us VERY happy too!

Another thing he LOVES is anything and everything to do with "Thomas & Friends". We went on THE GREAT DISCOVERY Tour this year since the twins are old enough to enjoy this.

Read more about this Special Event on the web site - It looks like it runs in several US states HERE

Oregon's link on the above page is incorrect, but I found the correct URL (and of course with majestic Mt Hood in the background) See it here and click under SPECIAL EVENTS
Be sure to check out the photos on the site as well! A favorite of Cameron's is Thomas in Hood River
Thing You Hate Most About Autism:
The LACK of help, services, (therapies), and support we get from KAISER Insurance. They will not provide therapy, instead try very hard to sell us on giving our NON aggressive son DRUGS such as Ritalin before he's been given ANY chance with therapy! BTW, Kaiser is not the only insurance pulling this cr@p in Oregon either. Insurance companies are also pushing parents onto the overworked Public Education School system for help which runs on a shoe string budget and can provide only so much help since classes are getting over crowded with these children.

This video below is just one of the many reasons why we are voting for Obama / Biden on Nov 4th 2008. I caught this video posted on a Women for Obama MySpace site. PLEASE listen to the entire video:

Here are a few to start off with:

PLEASE AMERICA! DON'T get fooled during this ELECTION!
PEOPLE in America MUST understand and read these links below.
THIS WILL AFFECT YOU!

McCain Secretly Plans New Tax on Middle Class and McCain’s Health Plan: DOA

As it is, our family (like many out there) are already one hospital visit away from bankruptcy and we pay for health care through my husband's employer!

Under McCain's plan our family, like so many, will be doomed!

This is what we have under our current situation:

And we KNOW it will be far worse under McCain's plan if elected!

Healthy and this is not an issue for you? Then I would also like to share a video that a concerned American created:

Thomas, You're the Leader!

Hey everyone!

We finally were able to watch the latest "Thomas" video last night called:

The Great Discovery (narrated by Pierce Brosnan)

Cameron, Curious George, and Autism

One of our twin boys, Cameron, (diagnosed with Autism), LOVES Curious George.
Cameron in a way, is much like the cartoon character from "Curious George"
Cameron has the same fun, loving, innocent curiosity just like George...
The way Cameron discovers the world around him, how he responds and
at times, in HIS way shares it with me, is much like this music video.

This song, the LYRICS, and the video (see below) remind me of my dear son Cameron.
Cameron loves this song & the videos too! (and… Continue

More double seated shopping carts please!

It is VERY rare to find a double seated shopping cart available to use when shopping, that is, if the store even has them. Most often I'll have to have Cameron (the bigger twin with ASD) sitting in a single seated shopping cart, while I have Andrew (the smaller twin - not diagnosed with ASD) in a child's harness, using the wrist strap to tie him to the handle of the shopping cart with me oddly walking / pushing the cart behind Andrew. Think it's easy? Well, it's manageable but after you've loade… Continue

Hi Cindy hope you and family are doing well..thanks for posting the link to the vaccines vs autism site....i found it very interesting...I don't care what anyone says I like you still believe that that Michaels autism was a result of that MMR..at that time also they were still using a preservative named Thermisol that was 51% mercury..multiply that by 3 in a booster such as a booster shot and you have 151% mercury going into our babies bodies..and the FDA only recommends that these shots be given individually not in triplicate either......I do also think that some childrens immune systems are too fragile to recieve these also ...........I was looking at your boys they are gorgeous and growing up very fast huh??????..talk to you soon..and thanks again for all you do for this site and for being you!!...(((HUGS)))

ya' know I was thinking.., and I know your children are still small but.when I left that message on the board on the other site, I addressed the transition programs for our children that are now filtering into society as well as the immunization issue...maybe we can get some one to listen..Michael is now 18 years old and there are NO programs available to him,,I refuse to give up because I am not going to lert him just sit at home when he has potential and deserves the best..If you happen to come across transition programs for our older children please let me know..I can't find anything in the Atlanta area....love and hugs(())
