About Me:

Well let's see..... I am the PROUD mother of 2 children, Jackie (5) and Bobby (3). I recently stopped working full time and went down to part time and it has helped my son alot.

About Your Autistic Family Member:

My son was diagnosed with Autism in January of '08. He is mild on the spectrum and we are lucky enough to have him in different therapies 4 times a week. He's been in therapy since October of '07 and has made such an improvement in the last 7 months. We are all hopeful that he will be able to attend a "normal" kindergarten, but we won't push it if he's not ready. My daughter is a great helper when it comes to his therapy and when we are working on different things at home. I don't think she fully understands the situation but anytime she has questions I try to answer her as best as I can.

Favorite Thing To Do With Your Autistic Family Member:

There are so many things. I would have to say that singing to him as I hold him in my arms and hearing him sing with me. Also we love to color, cuddle, and play outside when the weather is good, oh yeah and he loves to have me blow bubbles for him so he can chase them around the yard.

Thing You Hate Most About Autism:

I hate the fact that it takes your child from you. I hate that I don't understand it completely, but I am always searching on line and getting advice from his therapists ( without them I would be lost). I was able to deal with Autism once I realized that it was the disorder behaving badly and not my son.
