- I'm a 24 year old Mommy to a boy who is on the Autism Spectrum. Still awaiting a clear answer on where on the Specturm he lies. He also has Global Developemental Delays and is Non-Verbal. I'm an avid and loyal WWE Fan. Also a huge music & movie lover.
- About Your Autistic Family Member:
- His name is Landon. He's will is three years old.. He started Developemental Pre-K on his birthday. I was a bit nervous before it started. But, I'm comfortable now. He's doing really well. And, loves it there. I'm soo greatful that everything turned out the way we wanted it to since we've been back on our own. All in all life is good.
We have recently learned that Landon may also have Aparxia.
- Favorite Thing To Do With Your Autistic Family Member:
- Sit and build blocks with him. Sing to him. Read to him. Watch him enjoying one of his favorite movies. Teach him new signs. Work with him on his Structured Activites. Watching him enjoy himself at the playground. Coloring. Swimming in the Summer Time. Doing funny jumping dances. Playing cars. Lots of fun stuff.
- Thing You Hate Most About Autism:
- I can't say I hate anything about it. There is no need to hate it. But, I do get frustrated at times with the fact that there isn't enough funding for research. Or enough awarness. Especially with it being as big as it is.
That and now I can add the increasing ignorance of others who know nothing about it. They push all kinds of advice and bad words. And, they have no clue what it really is like for us. But, when are given the chance to find out and get to understand they turn their back like they already know what it's all about.

UPDATES!!
So, things around here have been kinda nuts. For the most part things are great.
We made our third attempt at potty training with Landon about three weeks ago. And, so far things are great. I'm confident that he will be fully trained soon. He's already staying dry throughout the day. We've had one accident in the last three days and it wasn't even a big deal. We pretty much caught it and got him to the bathroom before any real damage is done. Today he even made it through nap time with underwar… Continue

A mix of emotions..(Posted on Myspace as well. But, an add on the end for here..)
So, it's been a little over a year since Landon had his intial visit for his process of diagnosis. And, I'm STILL fighting with doctor's to get him into any and all doctor's visits that he needs in order to complete it and find out exactly what it is we need to be working on for him.. But, for some reason I keep getting the runaround!! I just don't get it. I don't understand why nobody will listen to me. The only ones that do either can't help me. I'm not really sure why..
But, for some reason I'm very sad today. It kinda took over me about an hour ago.
I don't believe I have a reason to be sad. But, at the same time I am.
It's kinda bothering me.
Any words of encouragment to help me through today?

- Hi Valarie, Thanks for the comment. I don't get on line very often, but I love this site. My autistic grandson is 16 now and still doesen't speak. Kristina his 14 yr. ld sister loves him and wrote this song to him and Autism Speaks asked her to perform it at their walk.

- Hi there Val...All good here...Steven doing great at school (he changed schools last sept)...it has been a good move for him...he is so much more confident!! - Hey girl!! sorry i haven't been on in a while either. My life is soo hectic w/ school && work. Well i got some good news. They ruled out autism for my son. But not dyspraxia I have had 6 weeks off from school for break && i got him to say 10 words now on a regular basis. It's just animal noises. He knows moo, quack quack, he says ha ha for horses, rooster noise, owl who, uh-oh, chair, && go if i show him go diego go && ask who it is he calls him go go. Hope all is well for you guys.
