- my 9 year old sister, sophia, was diagnosed with autism when she was 4 years old. She is a very independent person. AND she absolutely loves spongebob!

- well, since her favorite thing to do is watch her spongebob dvds, i usually watch that with her...

- I think about that sometimes...and sophia having autism has changed my life for the good, though i wish she didnt have it alot of times, i know there is a reason for everything and there is a reason for sophia having autism, as well as all the other people who have autism! They are here for a purpose!!

To my autistic sister, Sophia
Oh little girl from heaven, You are so precious to me,
With your graceful eyes
And your loving heart,
That is the part of you Strangers never see.
You've taught me so many things in life,
As we have grown up together, hand in hand,
Some days were bad, And some were hoped for,
But I've loved every mile we've ran.
Though I know the road will be hard,
And the light will be so hard to find,
This one thing I want you to know, always,
I will never leave you behind.

Hey Erica and welcome to Families..you sound like a very loving, and patient sister..Sophia is a lucky girl!!!!!...My son is autistic and was diagnosed at age 3 and 1/2..he is now 17..I know my 3 older children have always been there for him as I feel you would walk through fire for your sister... and I commend you for your strength.....I truly understand all the emotions and sometimes frustration you must feel...I hope this site helps support and reminds you athat you are not alone..and JUST AS SPECIAL AS YOUR SISTER...I hope to hear from you soon...(((((MANY HUGS)))))
