It is VERY rare to find a double seated shopping cart available to use when shopping, that is, if the store even has them. Most often I'll have to have Cameron (the bigger twin with ASD) sitting in a single seated shopping cart, while I have Andrew (the smaller twin - not diagnosed with ASD) in a child's harness, using the wrist strap to tie him to the handle of the shopping cart with me oddly walking / pushing the cart behind Andrew. Think it's easy? Well, it's manageable but after you've loaded the cart with groceries, and with the twins weighing about 85 pounds together, I am huffing around 150 - 200 pounds in this odd but what to do scenario! LOL
What gets me, is while I am shopping through the store, THAT is when I will find the double seated shopping carts being used by a single child pushed by a mother or father. Oh well. But I think "Dang!" as I huff and push along the twins past them.
And around here, DID you know that TOYS R US does not have these double shopping carts?! Hence why I mostly shop online at Amazon or eBay anymore for the twins toys etc. Of all places, you'd think they'd be more accommodating!
Below are a few snappies extracted from a video I took of the twins. On this particular day we got VERY lucky and found a RED Double Seated shopping cart AVAILABLE while grocery shopping. (Red is also Cameron's favorite color) It's not easy to go shopping alone with the twins, but having a double seated shopping cart like this makes it SOOOO much easier! Not to mention enjoyable for the twins!
Oh, and don't even get me going on the "disability parking spots". I still wonder if we qualify to have one. THAT and double seated shopping carts would make shopping with twins so much easier (and safer)
