Families of Autistic Kids

A 2009 Valentine video of our twin boys, Andrew & Cameron.

Cameron (the twin that has autism) can now sing the Month's of the Year and Days of the week as well as a bit of the song "Thomas, You're the Leader!" from The Great Discovery movie as heard HERE

Spongebob Squarepants is now right up there with Thomas as Cameron's favorite characters.

Andrew can not only read quite well now, but can spell words and without having to write them down.

Oh! Cameron has also memorized our phone number and home address in the last month as well!

Sorry this was late to post up. Cameron fell ill late this night and still home sick with a virus this week along with Andrew who at least isn't taking it as hard.

Thank you Papa John!

I really think his progress is partly due to what I've been giving him...
In April 2008, when Cameron was only 4 years old, dr's at Kaiser only wanted to put Cameron on Ritalin rather than to provide him therapy. We of course said a firm NO.

Well, I've been taking SAFE small baby steps to help Cameron. He started his 6 hour Kindergarten class back in Sept 2008. Not an easy task... and the school is a 30 min. drive from our home.
Anyway, just after Thanksgiving in Nov 2008 , I started giving him a very small amount of Melatonin - found at Trader Joe's in 100 chewable 500 mcg tablets for only $3.99. I cut it in fourths, and he gets 1/4th of the pill which equals 125 mcg. Sunday to Thursday.
It really helps him to get a good nights restful sleep. I RECENTLY found out it also helps build his immune system AND because we had given the twins TYLENOL (per dr's orders) which contains acemetophin, all those years, I recently found out TYLENOL DEPLETES the much needed Glutathione in their system! Glutathione helps rid of the metals and other toxins in your system.

And you can't just take Glutathione - it does not work that way. BUT Melatonin has been proven to naturally raise Glutathione in your system! :) So we no longer use Tylenol and use Motrin, or Ibuprophen for fevers, headaches etc.

Then on Jan. 15 2009 I started giving Cameron Suntheanine (L-Theanine) product by Natural Factors. It also comes in a chewable form. I cut the tablet in half and only give him 50 mg in the morning, and 50 mg in the afternoon. Within 1 month, Cameron's teachers are AMAZED with how well he is progressing. My husband was skeptical at first but now thrilled. Cameron now knows the "Months of the Year" , Days of the Week, knows our phone number and home address! His eye contact is better. He now ASKS and ANSWERS questions and more.

Suntheanine is far safer and better to use on our son than Ritalin!

What I found out is not only are children with Autism show very low levels of Glutathione, but they also have a HIGH level of Seratonin. L-Theanine DECREASES Seratonin levels. And did you know that some drugs they give like Zoloft and Paxil RAISE Seratonin levels?!

Anyway, sorry for the long post- I just wanted to tell you about the safe small baby steps I've taken for Cameron and so far they seem to be working and without RITALIN! :)
